We are thrilled to share that Edible Cutlery, the team behind Edible Cups, has been named the winner of the Innovation Award at the 2026 WasteSorted Awards.
It is a proud moment for our whole team and a big thank you to everyone who has sipped, crunched and cheered us on along the way.
About the WasteSorted Awards
The WasteSorted Awards are an initiative of the Government of Western Australia, coordinated by Waste Authority WA. Each year they celebrate the individuals, community groups, businesses, schools and local governments across WA who are working towards a low waste future by avoiding, reusing and recycling waste, and inspiring others to do the same.
The Innovation Award recognises fresh, practical ideas that change the way we deal with waste. Being chosen as the winner alongside so many inspiring organisations means a great deal to us.
Why it matters to us
Every day, Australians use nearly 2.7 million disposable coffee cups, and many of them end up in landfill. Edible Cups started with a simple question: what if the cup never became waste at all? Our cups are made to be enjoyed with your drink and then eaten, so there is nothing left to throw away.
This award tells us that idea is resonating, and it gives us even more energy to bring edible cups to more cafés, events and workplaces around Australia.
